Vineyards on the Moselle: the Heinrichshof sites
The three large vineyards of the Heinrichshof are located around the charming village of Zeltingen-Rachtig on the Moselle: Himmelreich, Sonnenuhr, and Schlossberg, which are considered among the best-rated sites in the entire Moselle wine-growing region.
Since 2025, the spice garden with its reddish slate soils and a special friendship project – an exchange of Riesling grapes between the Sonnenuhr and the famous Piesporter Goldtröpfchen – have also enriched the vineyard portfolio of the Heinrichshof Winery.

Himmelreich
- 77 hectares
- 5-75% steep slope
- predominantly deep, weathered slate, partly interspersed with clay, gravel, and sedimentary rocks
The Himmelreich vineyard stretches out just beyond Zeltingen. The grape varieties that make up the diversity of Heinrichshof wines thrive on gently sloping, partly slate-covered soils: Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Many of the local and estate wines originate here, as do the characterful single-vineyard wines „Römische Kapelle“ and „In der Heel“.
Sonnenuhr
- 18 hectares
- 65-80% steep slope
- Blue, stony, weathered Devonian slate
The Sonnenuhr, a prime location for Rieslings, is characterized by steep slopes and soils of blue Devonian slate, as well as a southwestern orientation. It owes its name to a sundial dating from 1620, which is considered the oldest sundial on the Moselle and still adorns this vineyard today. The “Rotlay” from the Sonnenuhr vineyard is complex and powerful, with lots of slate minerality and yellow aromas. The dry white wine is complemented by a Pinot Blanc ”Reserve“.
Schlossberg
- 19 hectares
- 35-75% steep slope
- Gray-blue Devonian slate
Right next to the sundial rises the picturesque Schlossberg hill with the ruins of Rosenburg Castle. This vineyard is also a pure steep slope, characterized by heat-retaining slate soils and a sunny southwest exposure. The wines from this site mature particularly long on the lees and possess expressiveness and depth. At “Tonneau,” the aging in a wooden barrel is recognizable by an additional spiciness.

Goldtröpfchen
- 62 hectares
- 40-90% steep slope
- Gray Devonian slate
The GG Rieslingstrauben from the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard are exchanged with fellow winemaker Stephan Steinmetz for GG Sonnenuhr grapes from the Heinrichshof vineyard. This joint project showcases the two winemakers’ enthusiasm for experimentation, which gives each wine its own unique character through their individual processes and preferences.

Würzgarten
- 50 hectares
- 40-80% steep slopes
- Red volcanic and slate soil
The red volcanic and slate soil of the Würzgarten vineyard is synonymous with unique single-vineyard wines that possess exceptional depth and complexity. The bright red steep slope is evidence of a high iron content and has been part of the Heinrichshof winery since 2023. This unusual steep slope produces wines that captivate with their exotic, spicy aromas.
